Boeing confirms Algerian interest in its air platforms

Boeing confirmsAlgiers, Algeria – is in the early stages of procurement talks with Boeing regarding the acquisition of a number of different aircraft types to fulfill a variety of missions, the company confirmed on 23 September.

A statement from Boeing indicated that the Algerian government is discussing the possible purchase of air mobility, air-to-air refuelling, and aerial surveillance and reconnaissance platforms. The statement also said that “Boeing and Algeria continue to engage in very early discussions regarding these requirements”.

Earlier this year, the Algerian Air Force (al Quwwat al Jawwiya al Jaza’eriya) is understood to have conducted trials of the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III strategic airlifter, which it is considering as a potential replacement for its Ilyushin Il-76 ‘Candid’ platforms.
