Corruption cases brought to justice in Tunisia

Corruption cases brought to justice in TunisiaTunis, Tunisia – The National Anti-Corruption Authority (INLC) has examined 6,000 cases, 400 of which were brought to justice, out of 15,000 cases and complaints on corruption cases that have reached the commission so far” INLC President Samir Annabi said in a press conference.

According to the INLC President, reported corruption crimes involve “financial embezzlement, tax evasion, corruption as well as nepotism in recruitment, whether through staffing competitions or not”…

On the eve of their revolution two and a half years ago, Tunisians scorned the grip that their president’s in-laws held on the nation’s economy: “The Trabelsis have eaten everything!” they complained. Since then, in Tunisia and elsewhere in the region, governments have been under increased pressure to tackle the scourge of corruption. But progress has been painfully slow.
